Join The Orillia Silver Band on Sunday, March 24 at 2:00 pm at the St. Paul’s Centre in Orillia for a benefit Concert with the Orillia Vocal Ensemble in support of Green Haven Shelter for Women.
The concert will include some great selections by the band and choir as well as some piece with us sharing the stage. The band will play everything from a classic march, The Old Seventeen March by E.A.Y. Jones, to one of our very own commissioned works, Mariposa Sketches from the pen of Len Ballantine.
We will feature our Tenor Horn soloist, Rita Arendz on the hauntingly beautiful The Lark in the Clear Air arranged by Gordon Langford, a gorgeous setting of Eric Whitacre’s October arranged by Philip Sparke, and the very exciting Glorifico Aeternum by Dean Jones.
The choir and band will combine forces for Oscar Peterson’s Hymn to Freedom, the lovely Song for the Mira and a medley of Selections from Joseph!
Proceeds from the concert will go to Green Haven Shelter for Women in Orillia in support of the work they do to support and empower women in our community. Please check out their website at: https://greenhavenshelter.com/
