Celebrate the Holiday Season with the Orillia Silver Band!
Sleighbells and Brass Christmas Concert
The Orillia Silver Band celebrates the holiday season with its traditional Sleighbells and Brass Christmas Concert. The concert takes place on Sunday, December 11, 2022, 2:00 pm at the Charles W. Stockey Centre for the Performing Arts in Parry Sound. Concert tickets are $25.00 for adults, $10.00 for students/children and are available from the Stockey Centre Box Office. Click HERE for tickets.
This is the band’s first holiday concert in Parry Sound since the start of the pandemic in 2020. The group is truly thrilled to be back performing there again! Neil Barlow, the band’s Music Director and Conductor has made sure that there is plenty of traditional holiday music on offer.
Among the items to be performed during the Christmas concert this year are Gustav Holst’s Christmas Day, Kevin Norbury’s exciting Gaudete!, and a wonderful setting of Joy to the World by William Himes. Also included is a set of dances from the beautiful Nutcracker Ballet by Tchaikovsky.
The concert will feature Adam’s O Holy Night, played by euphonium soloist Paul Rayment as well as a light-hearted arrangement of Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town as a tuba solo by Tim Rice. This year, the band will present the beloved holiday medley A Christmas Festival by Leroy Anderson. And it wouldn’t be a Silver Band Christmas concert without an audience-request sing-a-long. So come prepared to exercise the vocal chords with your favourite Christmas carols.
A portion of the proceeds will go to the Rotary Club’s Christmas Hamper Program.
Please don’t miss this entertaining afternoon of holiday cheer!
